"I was born in Finland December 1986 and grew up on the countryside of Ekenäs. My interest in art started at an early age, but it was not until I served the Finnish Marines between 2008-2009 that I fell in love with photography. Today I work as a full-time fine art photographer with gallery representation from including: Moscow, Russia; Osnova Gallery, Charlotte, NC, USA; Mona Gallery and Bergen, Norway; Geo Gallery. I have done commissions for national as well as international clients including: Adobe, Nikon, Oxford University Press and the Finnish Forest Industry. My work has been published in several notable publications and websites around the globe such as: LA Times, Oprah.com, Huffington Post, China Daily, Moscow Times and Colossal."
Mood board for Relander's 'We Are Nature' double exposure project
Image analysis for Christoffer Relander
Using transparency and the double exposure effect, the black and white image above involves an image of an evergreen tree restricted into the outline of an elderly, experienced looking man. The texture of the evergreen tree gives a natural and pure feel to the image. The combination of this duo could depict that the man in the image, as a result of his experienced life, is willingly ready to great death and return to the dust of the earth. There is a medium-high contrast of colours, which is required for the double exposure effect to work. The fact that there are two images different combined supports the idea that it could be a facade, like a postcard.
